At D² Java we are Professional Baristas dedicated to the art of craft coffee on the seacoast of New Hampshire.
We work hard to stay on the cutting edge of specialty coffee brew science, and we meticulously cup and brew profile each individual coffee that we serve in order to bring out their best characteristics.
We brew single origin coffees by the cup, and we try to remain conscious about their seed-to-cup journey.
Our espresso beverages are crafted to extremely precise and rigourous standards.
The items on our small plate food menu are freshly prepared with love to order.
As a multi-roaster cafe, we get to develop close relationships with some very talented coffee roasters.
We currently source our stellar coffee from Flight Coffee Co. down the road in Bedford, NH, Tandem Coffee Roasters up in Portland, ME, New Harvest Coffee Roasters in Pawtucket, RI, Brandywine Coffee Roasters in Wilmington, DE and Ceremony Coffee Roasters from Annapolis, MD.
We get our lovely teas from our friends at Mem Tea Imports who are based in Watertown, MA.
We get our Kombucha from Aqua Vitea who are based in Bristol, Vermont.
We try to make sure everyone has something delicious and locally made to snack on at D².
We get our vegan and gluten-free goods from Piping Plover Baking Co.
Our delicious pies come from Valley View Orchards.
We get some mouth watering lemon bars, cookies, and brownies from Angel's Creations of New England.
There are some inherent evils in the coffee industry with regards to environmental sustain ability. The main culprit is the fact that coffee beans come from other countries, must be shipped long distances (emitting plenty of CO2 and other gases), roasted (more CO2), then finally prepared and served. Here are some of the things we are doing at D² Java to counteract this:
We use local vendors to help reduce travel/shipping impacts.
Our Webhosting company, Greengeeks, is 300% powered by renewable energy
We compost nearly all of our trash, and recycle most of the rest of it, so only a small fraction of our total waste ends up in a landfill. (Rian Bedard at Mr. Fox Composting put together our program and is doing great work to reduce the impact of waste in and around the seacoast community).
We get all of our paper/plastic cups/containers, disposable silverware, and some other items from World Centric, who specialize in disposables that are both compostable and made from recycled material. This makes nearly all disposable items we carry either recyclable or compostable!
With our loyalty program we are challenging you to reduce your own impact by bringing in a re-usable cup or bringing in your old cup to be composted. If you do one of those two things 10 times – you get a free coffee (or tea)! To facilitate this we sell KeepCups, which have the same shape, feel, and size of a to-go cup, but are reusable!
